Why Cats Sometimes Get Stressed Over Small Changes

Why Cats Sometimes Get Stressed Over Small Changes

15th Jan 2026

Cats may act like they rule the house—but deep down, they’re creatures of habit.
They feel safest when things stay familiar: same routine, same spaces, same smells.

So when something changes—moving furniture, a new scent, even a different work schedule—your cat feels it.
That’s why some cats hide after guests visit, stop using their litter box after a home remodel, or act extra clingy when you’re gone more than usual.

It’s not drama. It’s stress.
They’re just trying to get their world back to something they understand.

What helps?

Start small! Keep their essentials—like their favorite bed, scratcher, or perch—in consistent spots.
Give them familiar textures and scents. And if you’re adding something new to the mix?
Try placing it next to something they already trust.

But don't do too much too fast...

They’ll adjust… as long as they know they still have a safe corner of their kingdom!
