What's your kitty's sign?

My oldest cat, Daphne, is Zen-like. She is very calm. I often catch her watching me, and it feels like she's sending me warm energy. A friend recently told me Daphne is a Pisces. Honestly, I don't give much thought to astrology for people, let alone cats. But when we checked out the different charts in the Western Zodiac, we found that Daphne is indeed a Pisces. Theoretically, people (and cats) born under this sign have a spiritual quality, just like I've noted in my girl.

If you're interested in following your cat's horoscope, it's easy if you know his birthdate. Check out Daily Paws, cited below, for information about each sign. If you adopted your cat from a shelter or rescue and don't have a date of birth, list three of his main qualities. For example, he may love laying in the sun, he might hate being with other cats, or maybe he's clever, hyper, or moody. Then, check out the information about each zodiac sign and match him up in reverse fashion.

Some people might question the purpose of horoscopes for cats. Others think of them as a tool to help understand their feline pal. According to Daily Paws, "As obvious as certain behaviors and characteristics might be, feline friends are, by nature, a bit more mysterious than their canine counterparts. That's why it can be helpful to take their zodiac sign into consideration."

According to Reader's Digest, "Aquarius [January 20- February 18] is the sign that arguably has the most cat-like personality. Also ruled by diligent Saturn, Aquarians can be distant, eccentric and have a reputation for being somewhat limited in their affections."

Conversely, learning what human astrological signs are most attractive to cats is also interesting. Start with your sign. For example, my sign is Cancer. According to an article in Reader's Digest, cited below, I am a "sweet homebody." (Allegedly!) This site tells me the Ragdoll breed would be a perfect match for me. My Daphne is partially Siamese and, according to this article, would be best for a Libra (I will not tell her this).

I love both cats and dogs, but sadly Cancer doesn't make the top four for the kinds of people whom cats love most, according to Pure Wow, cited below. They name Capricorn, Aquarius, Leo, and Pisces as the signs that cats are most attracted to. Oh well. Bottom line: Love rules all the stars. And so Daphne is perfect for me, proper sign or not, and I'm perfect for her, proper sign or not.
