Pets of 2024: Your Photos!
A picture is worth a thousand words…and a thousand purrs! Join us for a look back on 2024 with photos of cats and dogs from our community members. Below we’ve showcased a selection of your pets with creative names, along with featuring multi-pet households, foster cats, and more!
Unique pet names
Pawsome pet lovers shared with us dozens of photos of cats and dogs with amazingly creative names. Here are just a few that stood out to us.
Above from left to right: Thunder and Lightning by Kenny S., Princess Leia by Margaret B., Moon Pie by Bill A., BMW Mini Cooper by Linnzie Lee P., Mochi Minerva McGonagall by Jennifer W., Hershey Kiss by Ann J., and Nutter Butter by Rachel D.
Curious to know what the most popular cat names are? In 2019, the nonprofit Cats Protection surveyed 34,000 pet owners in the UK and discovered the five most common cat names for female cats were Poppy, Molly, Luna, Bella, and Daisy. The most frequently used male cat names were Charlie, Oscar, Alfie, George, and Jasper.
Pet crews
Alley Cat Allies reports that the average cat owner in the US has 2.2 cats. We’re highlighting some of the cat and dog parents in our community who go above and beyond with pet adoption.

Foster cats
A 2022 study by the research group Maddie’s Fund revealed that 88% of pet shelters in the US run foster care programs. Numerous rescue organizations urgently need foster volunteers to care for pets as they wait for adoption. We deeply appreciate our community members who graciously open their homes and hearts to those pets.

Kittens
According to the National Kitten Coalition, in 2022, 38% of cats entering pet shelters with a known age were kittens aged five months or younger. Out of these felines, only 82% found homes. While cats of all ages are in need of loving humans, we would like to introduce you to a few adorable young faces from cat parents in our community.

Catmas Photo Contest Winners
Finally, we offer our congratulations to the recent Catmas photo contest winners. We received hundreds of photo submissions for the contest, and as always it is challenging to choose only a handful of winners. Each pet is wonderfully remarkable in their own way.
