A Day in the Life of a Cat Influencer
Posted by Armarkat on 3rd Jun 2024
As a pet-loving social media user, I personally follow 10 different pet influencers across multiple platforms. Why? Because they are relatable, funny, and melt my heart with cuteness. Pet influencers charm us with the humor and encouragement that only animals can provide.
To get an inside view of the life of internet cat stars, I interviewed Paige C., the pet mom of one of my favorite cat influencer duos, Saki and Wasabi. These beloved cats have over 17,000 followers on Instagram and more than 19,000 followers on Facebook, and growing! More importantly, their community has united pet lovers worldwide.
When did you get your cats? How would you describe their personalities?
Both cats were adopted in 2020. Saki is a sassy princess. Who loves the attention on HER terms. Wasabi is a spitfire and has a spunky attitude and finds himself in trouble at times. He is a cuddle bug and always wants attention too.
When did you start posting about your cats to social media? What made you want to create accounts for them?
I started posting about them at the end of 2020. I wanted to create it to bring joy to others with photos of the kitties. It was also a way for me to keep a log of the cats over the years. Like a little photo diary.
Do you have a certain routine for your social media posts, whether it’s activities you do daily or on a frequent basis?
I do not have a specific routine. I just try to keep up with the certain days and posting about that day (like tongues of Tuesday). If it's a certain holiday or something special, I will try to post about that. Otherwise, it’s just photos I take or reels I make.
Are there aspects of being a pet influencer that you think many people don’t know about?
Sometimes people can be very negative about the posts or the pets in general. It can also be a lot to try to keep up with what is going on and trying to keep up with the latest trends.
What do you like most about sharing your cats with the world?
I love getting to know other pet parents that also have social media for their pets. I feel the pet community is an amazing place and sharing photos and videos and having people react to them is such a joy for me to see.
Do you have a favorite memory about being a pet influencer that you’d like to share?
I think that my favorite memory is just getting to know others all over the world. My first year on social media, we got Christmas cards from so many people, including people in Australia, Canada, and Singapore. Being able to connect to people all over the world is incredible.
Is there anything we haven’t covered about this topic that you’d like to add?
One thing we would like to add is a thank you to all the small businesses that we have come across and get to help spread the name to all the followers and others who see the posts. I think another amazing thing about being an influencer is just word of mouth and someone being able to see others use products and want to go buy and try them as well.
We encourage you to follow Saki and Wasabi on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook!
